Thirty-One Years in Georgia Red Clay

Every market has its own version of hard. In Greater Atlanta it is expansive Piedmont red clay, which swells after a wet spring and shrinks through a dry August. Footings ride that cycle, and homes crack where they cannot absorb the difference.

We started in 1995 doing exactly this work, in exactly this soil. Over three decades that has added up to a specific kind of knowledge: how a 1920s bungalow crawl space in Kirkwood behaves differently from a graded pad in Alpharetta, why shallow bedrock near Stone Mountain changes a pier design, and how much moisture a mature oak pulls out of a yard in a dry month.

Groundworks acquired the company in December 2020. What that changed was access: proprietary systems built for problems like ours, and a nationally supported life-of-structure warranty that transfers to the next owner. What it did not change is who shows up. Crews are dispatched from Marietta and East Point, and the person inspecting your home works in your area.

The part we are most deliberate about is the inspection itself. The person at your door is a certified field inspector, not a commissioned sales rep. Their job is to measure and explain. A meaningful share of those visits end with us telling a homeowner that what they are seeing is cosmetic and nothing needs doing, which is the whole point of having someone qualified do the looking.
